KIA seems to have quite a few quality/reliability issues. Also, unless you're close to a dealership, getting service and warranty work would be a hassle.

I'd much prefer a Hyundai since their quality scores have been rising. I drove one from Northern Cal to Southern Cal a few months ago. It was an Elantra, didn't fall in love with the car but it was okay. Power Steering is overboosted and under acceleration, the power increase isn't the smoothest, but it seemed like a solid car.

From a reliability and MPG view, Toyota's still are hard to beat. US car makers are trying though.

Forget about it. I hope that you will consider an American made car by an American company. We need to keep the American auto industry going. There are a lot of jobs involved and we want to keep the American work force busy. I have been told that 1 out of every 6 jobs in the US is dependent on the transportation industry.

Our trade deficit is at an all time high, and only getting worse. We don't need to be sending more money overseas.

At least think about it. BTW, just saw on TV that Buick has received and initial quality rating the same as Toyota, so it shows we are improving. Ford also has some products that are top rated too.

Don't waste your money, cost of ownership is the initial price minus the price you get when it comes time to sell the vehicle. Kia may have an attractive selling price but in a few years you will get nothing for it, compared to something like a Toyota which will hold its value and is very easy to sell lots of times just by word of mouth.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A KIA!!!! i bought a brand new KIA in 2001( a 2002 Rio) with 48 miles on it and it is a piece of POOP ( to be nice) i have never been able to take it on vacation, as proof i have less than 50,000 miles on it and it is 5 years old ,paid for--the whole nine yards. i feel like a made car payments for an around town car. trust me you do not want a KIA, they are throw away cars.

COMPLETE TRASH

All Kia's are made with low quality construction
Platic bady panels
held on with plastic screws
and plastic fastners.

Very little metal - or thought went into the construction of this auto make.

I have worked on about 4 of them, and now I refuse them all - they are non repairable after a wreck - I will not even waste time customizing these disposable death machines

I don't like them, but they are cheap for a reason!
