who knows that most black people aren't waiting for a goverment hand-out? Am I the only white person that does not think that most black people blame "whitey" for their problems? Am I the only white person that really understands the history, cause & effect, and reality of Affirmative Action, and realizes that it really hasn't affected other white people in any significant way? Am I the only white person that looks at the individual and not the group? Am I the only white person who sees equal amounts of "bad apples" among whites as blacks? Am I the only black person who understands that yes, slavery was abolished, but oppression of blacks still continues on more systemic level rather than a personal, one-on-one level? Am I the only white person who can name 40 successful black people who are NOT celebrities?
Is any other white person going to speak up and stop assuming negative things about black people?

Nope. I'm on board with you on that one. One of the most successful black people I know is my neighbor and high school classmate. Good people. I've never assumed anything negative about black people. I'm I have prejudices, they are towards racists, lazy people, and pedophiles.

No, many other people of european ancestry harbor some of the same delusions as you do, and are aware of some of the same facts. Some may even have exactly the same combination of accurate and inaccurte beliefs as you have just expressed.

Thus, the answer to almost all of your questions is 'no.' That doesn't really mean much, as there are 200 million European-Americans, and virtually any imaginable opinion is probably held by at least two of them.

Your last question, for the same reason, is almost certainly a 'yes.'

This question, though I find interesting:

"Am I the only white person who can name 40 successful black people who are NOT celebrities?"

I thought about this, and I don't think I can name 40 successful non-celebrities of any single race, my own included. My circle of friends is small, racially varied, and most of them aren't that successful. And, maybe I've just been in a job that doesn't require a lot of contact beyond my immediate co-workers for too long, but I can't come up with 40 people of any single race that I know proffessionally, by name, either. I guess the sheer diversity of the place I work also has something to do with that.

Thank you for being educated on the black culture but it won't matter to most of the white racist on here. They have one sided views and will not take notice of anything that does not back up their negative claims about blacks. Its like trying to tell them that if it were not for a black person, there would be no air condition. If not for a black person there would be no stop lights, if not for a black person no vaccum, no freezers to keep things cold, if not for a black person, several million people would die because there would be no blood transfusions . they don't care. Hell a black person can find the cure for AIDS and all most of them will say is something to the effect of" yeah a black person would have the cure since it was the blacks who stared AIDS" or something like that. I don't worry about it. As the Bible say, the "meek shall inherit the earth". The way I see that prophecy will be true because the way the ozone is weaking and UV rays are bombarding the Earth, the same characteristics that white racist make fun of on blacks is the same characteristics that will allow us to live in/on a UV elevated Earth, where as whites, unfortunately will have to slather on SPF 1000 lotion or stay inside and type on Yahoo answers.

Entirely too many people ignore history, do not have relationships with people different from themselves, then repeat garbage stereotypes that they have absolutely not evidence to support have any basis in fact.

I am a white person who believes that there is entirely too much verbiage expended on the insignificance that some of us are
* white black hispanic asian or some other ethnicity
* Christian Jew Muslim Buddhist Sikh Druid Wicci or some other religion
* man woman
* young old
* married single

What is important is that we have equal opportunities, equal justice, and what we are able to make of that.

The racists among us are a sub-set of the conspiracy theorists among us. Their heads live in a fantasy world, and because of it, they do a serious job of messing up the real world.

You are definitely not the only White person. And any intelligent Black person realizes that unlike racist people, we can not judge an entire group of people based off a limited amount of idiots. To do so, would be just as ignorant as the people we speak out against.

So no, you aren't the only one. I believe there are more good people in this world, of all races, than there are bad. Its just the bad people get the most attention.

The racists on tis board give all people a bad name whether are black or white. I know that many white people are not racists, and that these trolls are not representative of white people as a whole. It is nice to see confirmation of an intelligent person on this forum.

No, you are not their are plenty of great white people in the world, just the racist give them and everyone a bad name. I applaud you for your understanding, courage to post, and being open minded. Most people can't say that they know these things about another racial group weather their white, black, Asian, Hispanic, etc. We do need more people regardless of their race to say these type of things.
