Because they want you to say "OMG Your not ugly! Your friggin gorgeous!"

1. Because they want attention. They know their group of friends or whoever they're around will say, "ohh, you're not ugly...you're perfect..." Not only does it make them feel good, but they enjoy the attention.
or
2. Because they have low self-esteem. Perhaps they come from broken families, or have been abused, or are suffering from acne or another kind of physical or emotional problem that hurts them. They automatically consider themselves trash and avoid looking at the mirror.

3. Because they have eyes and can see that they really ARE ugly.
Whatever makes a person think that he/she is ugly is wrong. Every person can be beautiful--there's no doubt about it. And there are at least 1,000 people out in the world who would consider someone who thinks that they are ugly breathtakingly gorgeous.
Unfortunately, the "ugly" phenomenon is popular, and teens and young adults consider to look down on themselves. Hopefully one day it will pass.

I don't believe that most people think of themselves as ugly. I think that most people believe that they have certain flaws, but only a minority consider themselves ugly.

Because nobody else sees you in the mirror every day. It's really easy to find the flaws in a body you're inhabiting and to focus on them. Most of the time other people don't notice.
I think most people can be pretty if they really tried.

they're self concsious and have self esteem issues... a lot of people take criticism or teasing to heart from early on in life.. and they begin to think they always need improvement,,

Because we are all perfectionists.
We look at a mirror and go on a "Scan" mode of the image we see-- and go"good good good good, nice !! good good YIKES !!!!, a humungous PIMPLE !" ( that was just an example)

because they have low self-esteem about themselves or maybe have been picked on in the past and they just going along to what people say about them that's what I think.

i don't consider my self ugly, i just see a normal human being with a few flaws.
