My answer: Jesus never lied. He truly believed that as the son Of caesar he was the next god in line over the Roman Empire. Jesus said "I will inherit my fathers kingdom". Fill me in. Was there another kingdom. Was there another earthly god. Were the Jews pulling nice folks legs?
Grow up guys. It is 2007. Not 07. You should be growing out of the fantasies forced on you by mom.

First of all, there's no need to attack others' beliefs, as the last bit of your question seems to. Granted, religion seems utterly, bewilderingly unbelievable to those of us who do not ascribe to one, but as long as a person doesn't use his/her religion to condemn others, it's none of my business.

Secondly, from what I see in the Bible, Jesus never made a claim to divinity. The language he used was so vague that he could have just been calling God his "heavenly father" as many self-proclaimed prophets did at that time. Most of the accounts of his life were written four decades after his death anyways, so if records existed of him preaching his divinity, I would take it with a grain of salt in regards to whether or not he did make such a claim. From what I have read of his life, though, if most of it is true, he was a truly kind and charismatic person who made a positive impact on the world. I wish that modern Christians followed the ACTUAL teachings of Christ. Considering the USA is predominantly Christian, it would make this country a much better, and probably much more socialist, place to live.

But where did you get the idea he was Caeser's son? Is that some theory from the Davinci Code or some such work?

I believe that Jesus (peace be upon him) was a true prophet of God Almighty like many other prophets who were sent by God on earth from time to time and in different regions and nations to guide us towards right path and the last out of which was Muhammad (peace be upon him). All these brought with them and preached the same message as brought Muhammad (pbuh). If you want to know exactly what was the message of Jesus (pbuh) you should read Qur'aan which carries the same message as it was written in original Bible. You can't find anything in Qur'aan which was or is proved wrong and it will never be, as I believe, because it is true word of God Almighty.
Jesus (pbuh) never told a lie. He never claimed divinity even. A lie is always illogical and you can't convince someone with an illogical statement. How can a prophet of God Almighty be illogical. If we find anything in the Bible which is proved wrong now it is not because Jesus (pbuh) was a liar. It is just because of the man made changes by some people later for their own agenda and material gain. The proof of this is that if you compare old testament of Bible with new one you will find many changes which are made in the recent past. What speak of changes in old times.

I do not know whether he was a liar, devious, a prophet or God, but he cannot have been the son of Caesar, because Caesar had been dead for 40 years when Jesus was born. Whether he was the Messiah or not, "my father's kingdom" refers to the supposed kingdom of Heaven.

Read this if you want to know if jesus was a liar.

In Matthew 24 - entitled ‘Signs of The End of The Age’ - Jesus relates to his disciples Things that are to come after his crucifixion.

1Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."

3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"

22If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.

29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'

30"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Now, this doesn’t sound to me like the resurrection of Christ. All talk of ‘the elect’ being gathered together by the angels does not sound like the events that took place after the crucifixion. I would say that we are still waiting for Jesus to ‘appear in the sky’ to ‘gather the elect’ two thousand years later. But the gospel goes on to say.

32"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. 34I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

So I ask you, did Jesus get it wrong?

On the contrary it is you my friend who should grow up. There are much better ways to prove Christianity false than this and I can name five off the top of my head. My advice is better educate yourself in biblical history. We may be in a fantasy but ours is much more related to fact than yours. Why would Caesar know anything about Jewish theology. Judaism was the religion of slaves. That's like the president of the U.S. being an expert on the Talmud. It makes no sense.

And my religion was hardly forced on me by my parents. You're just stereotyping me because I'm smarter than you.

Who cares?

If you actually took the time to READ the bible and find out what Jesus taught, you would see that the question of his divinity is irrelevant. He was a great man who taught peace, love and understanding even to people who are your enemy or don't agree with you. I call myself a Christian because I live my life according to his teachings, and I would even if he had never lived.
You really should learn to be a bit more tolerant. I would never say to an Atheist that believing that everything is coincidence is illogical.

Why Jesus? Don't you feel like to question the integrity of ALL the other so-called prophets of the human history? My answer: None of them was a liar .. they were illuminated humans who shone well ahead of their ages, and the simple, frightened, ignorant and naive layman could not but believe that such illuminated souls must have been sent by God!

Your question started out great and rapidly degenerated into a verbal attack on some unknown gangstah -like opponents out there. Who were you talking to in your last sentence?

Jesus, the man, was born centuries ago, who preached and lived his teachings by example. His life and sayings were chronicled by several people, books were written in Aramaic, by ordinary men, and further rewritten. centuries later by scholars and priests.

Go easy on him.
