as an example i go to to google and type in amazon, the results are displayed as normal with www.amazon.co.uk being the top one. so i click on that and it then sends me to various ad sites this happens whichever site i type into any search engine i can't search for anything using search engines, ?? Help, i tried restore and full syst scan with norton to no avail.

Sounds like you have spyware.
If I were you, I would avail myself of the free trials of some really good anti-spyware programs such as CounterSpy. It is far more powerful than any free software out there.
Try their free 15 day trial of the full system and see what it picks up.

It cannot hurt to try and unlike anti-virus programs, you can run more than one anti-spyware program on your computer.

sOUNDS LIKE YR COMP HAS BEEN HIJACKED (oops). You need to download 'hijackthis'. I tried all the usual ad removal progs and NORTON.. Only Hijackthis worked...the tricky bit is knowing what to delete. Try it (free)

it happens, because companies like Amazon.. pay for there adverts to be top of the page, if you scroll downwards, you will get the actual Amazon Rainforest.

what explorer are you using, I use Firefox, another is Apples web search browser thing, hopefully that wil help a bit?!

Make sure you can remember all your online user names and passwords. Then delete all your cookies.
