You are treading on thin ground with this one. First of all, you cannot legally take the seeds of wild poppies, unless they accidently get stuck to your feet when out for a countryside walk LOL. Wild poppies should be simple enough. Put a few seeds, in compost, in a seedtray. Add a little water and wait. Don't let the compost dry out and don't soak it either. After a few weeks, you should start seeing some shoots. Carefully remove the shoots and place them into individual pots (plastic tea cups are good for this). When the shoots are strong, dig small holes and transfer the small plants to the ground. Fill any gaps with a mixture of soil and compost then fill the hole in. Add some water and leave. Now for the other type of poppy, don't do it! Growing Opium without a license is illegal! LOL

Poppy seeds need soil that has been turned over (dug). That is why you see them along the edges of cornfields. You do not need to cover the seed, just scatter on the surface.

borrow grandads allotment
prepare soil with manure, fertiliser stuff like that
make a wee trench about an inch deep
place seeds along the wee trench and space out evenly
cover up with soil
water
for a disguise, put a runner bean packet on a stick at the edge
This will confuse grandad and police
Happy Gardening

Just scatter them where you want them to grow, lightly rake and water. What on earth do you think poppies do? and they even miss out the raking!

without being too facetious, stand with your back to the wind and just throw. I couldn't be easier! Or was this a 'trick' question?
