Go to the visitor center for info. Visit the Town museum on the other side of the street from the center.You can buy a combination ticket for the museum and two house tours of your choice. You can also take the boat to Fort Sumter(start of the Civil war).

Yes, I lived down there for a while. There is a private island in the area, I don't remember the name but it is a must see and do. You can ride horses on the beach if you are into that. It is private and very unique. Sorry I forgot the name.
