Bubble -- you've asked several similar questions over the past 1/2 hour. Clearly you're working on some vocabulary problems, probably as part of a standardized test prep. You would do well to not get your answers from Yahoo, but rather to learn how to figure out the meaning of the word from its context if you don't already know it.

In the example you've cited, the word "deteriorate" is followed by several clarifications of exactly what deterioration was occuring: losing the ability to swallow; developing weakness in the face; onset of severe headaches.

Given those descriptions, and the fact that there are likely multiple choices for the meaning of deteriorate, you should be able to pick the right choice.
