The first law of thermodynamics is the conservation of energy.
The answer is C.
The law of conservation of matter is the Lavoisier law -- not a law of thermodynamics.
"Sugar" and "carbon" are just silly.

(And it is NOT matter, the law of conservation of matter is not a thermodynamic law, thermodynamics deals with energy, that should be a big hint already)

Our body has a vital principle and one can not deny this. Without this principle, we are dead. We call this as soul and presume this to be a form of energy which pulsates heart and make us function as a single entity with well coordinated functions. Though, atheists do not believe in this, there indeed is a form of energy, which operates our lives. GEETA says that soul would change bodies the way we change clothes and assume new form. Nothing is destroyed and so soul is not destroyed and continue to take births after death.
