Are you glad you made this decision- i'm thinking of getting it done- any regrets? Has it altered your love-life in any way (apart from losing the worry!) - has it diminished the excitement in any way?? Any complications from the operation?? Please could you give your overall opinions etc, thanks.

While this is a woman's domain,

you have basically two options, done the same way,

you would have a 10 mm scope inserted through the belly button, and one or two incisions supapubic to the center and slightly off center, Some docs make three but most don't do that anymore, depends on if it is old school or new.

A single tooth instrument is used to manipulate the vagina so that the tubes are clearly seen..

now, you can go with Fallopian rings, (less trauma) and sometimes easier to reverse later,
o
or you can go with electric cautery. can be harder sometimes to reverse, depends on a lot of things.

typically, most women become pregnant in the right tube, Don't know why, just telling what the OB/GYN docs used to say in the OR so you still have a good chance of pregnancy depending on which method, and reason for it you chose.

most of the DFS cases we did, were routine, maybe 20 minutes start to leaving for recovery, and went home that same day.

the only over nite DFS cases I remember were women who had just had a child and were overnight anyway.

all surgery has risk, talk to the doc and your anesthesiologist. But this is a routine type, and honestly in all the years I was in surgery, there was never a complication other than the docs deciding who was buying lunch for the team that day.

Hi

My better half got sterilised but she got a new type of process called essure. See below..

A Breakthrough Technology

The Essure procedure is performed by a trained gynaecologist. A soft, flexible micro-insert is placed into each fallopian tube through your body's natural pathways.

In clinical testing, the total procedure took around 35 minutes, with only 15 minutes required to place the micro-inserts into the fallopian tubes. Most women were able to leave the centre 45 minutes after the procedure.

In the Pivotal Trial of Essure, 92% of working women resumed work 24 hours or less after the day of the procedure. In fact, many women resumed normal physical activities the same day they had the procedure.

Unlike tubal ligation (having your tubes tied) or vasectomy, the Essure procedure does not require incisions or punctures to the body and there is no cutting, clipping, suturing or burning of tubes.

During the three months after the procedure, your body and the micro-insert work together to form a tissue barrier that prevents sperm from reaching the egg. The micro-inserts do not contain or release hormones, and are made with the same materials used in other medical products for many years. For example, these materials have been used in blood vessel grafts, heart valve replacements and abdominal repair.

My wife has had no problems whatsoever and is happy with her decision to have it done. I do think you can have it reversed but it does involve an operation. Good Luck..

I am happy with my decision. I have had 4 (semi wonderful when they are sleeping) children and am much more relaxed at the thought of not having anymore. It is a hard decision to make and not one to take lightly you just have to do what feels right to you, and remember its permanent there is no going back. It doesn't diminish anything but the worry

It was not a choice that I made because of sterilization...I was told it was life or death due to endometriosis. It had absolutely no effect on any other aspect of my sexuality or lifestyle. I only regretted that I had not been able to have children, but I adopted two gorgeous children. It is a decision that you should also discuss with your physician in DETAIL.

i think that each and all and sundry women might desire to be sterilized as youthful ladies, till now puberty gadgets in. In a worldwide that has a inhabitants of virtually 7 billion human beings, with billions of youngsters who want a house and can be accompanied, there isn't any desire any further for "procreation". this will additionally make certain the "abortion" undertaking. with the aid of the way, an already pregnant woman won't be in a position to be sterilized.

It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have no regrets other than I wished I had done it sooner.
There is nothing wrong with getting rid of the baby maker & keeping the playpen :)

I wish I had done it sooner.I had no complications, whatsoever.I think it's better to have the procedure done,if you don't intend to have anymore children.Better than taking the birth control pill, the pill has bad side affects and you're risking your life in the long run.My opinion.Good luck.

Why don't you ask your partner to get the snip instead? It's a procedure that's reversible so if you decide that you'd like more kids in the future then the option to reverse is there. Plus you get to laugh at him while he's in pain!
