I'm having problems deciding on a name for my son due in September. Here's the 2 I've got it narrowed down to...tell me what you think.
Our last name is VERY german...and William is a family name for both of us...BUT...
We were thinking of going with the german pronounciation of William which is Willhelm (pronounced with a V instead of a W). We have pretty much decided the first name will be Kaiser, which means "german emperor."
So.....
Kaiser William Schlobohm (pronounced shhh-low-bum_
or
Kaiser Willhelm Schlobohm.
I think it sounds very regal, but I'm scared he'll get picked on or hate me for it...

ugh...I wish I hadn't asked. Now I'm more confused than ever.
And by the way...there are no Kaiser hospitals anywhere near here and I've never heard of them...
And whoever said it sounds like bread...you're right...I didn't think of that! lol

Both names have appeal, but I think the first one might be easier for your son. Unless the middle name will be used frequently, either should work, as Will or Bill could always be used as a nickname.
I would check into the history of Germany's Kaiser during the first world war, Kaiser Wilhelm, to help decide also which name you might prefer - if you like someone it would be great to give them a similar name, but if you don't, you might want to steer clear of it.
Best of luck, and I hope all goes well for the three of you next month.

Kaiser Willhelm Schlobohm
Its more original, and as long as your son grows up to be a confident person he won't care what people think of his name, all that matters is that it means something to him. Besides, when he explains the heritage behind it, kids will think his name is more interesting than funny sounding. My last name is German (not VERY German but still funny sounding and I like it/I'm proud of it).

Wasn't Kaiser Wilhelm some crazy German ruler dictator guy? Okay maybe not crazy, it's been a few years since I've taken world history.
Anyways, just be aware of the other people with your son's name. Personally I like the first one :-)

Go with Kaiser William, you don't want to over do the Germanic pronunciations since many people will say his name wrong.

Sorry, but I don't think Kaiser is a good name. It is a title, not a name. That is like naming your son King or Czar. Sorry, it just seems very strange to me.
Both middle names are fine. I think William is easier to say with your last name.

i think kaiser william schlobohm is better mainly for one reason, kaiser isnt an awful name or anything, (like, when i hear it.. i dont make a face. it kinda grows on you) but maybe william is better than willhelm just because its not sooo different.
good luck!

Yeah I think he will get picked on for that if you're in America... Kaiser is fine but keep it William instead if you want to go with that.

I would go with Willhelm. If he does get picked on he can still cut the middle name short and go with Will. Willhelm has more originality and it does not matter with the pronunciation once you cut Willhelm short, the "V" would drop with it.
Originality with a second option.

The second version is more appropriate give the very Germanic first name. I wanted to name my son Lucius Augustus, but I had a girl (Chloe). It's a strong name, and if he does get picked on, well, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!
