The chances are, like McDs and the other fast food places, they use a lot of additives such as anti-oxidants, flavourings etc. that are produced in chemical factories. Artificial colouring may also be used. As for hunger creating chemicals, no! Then again, being in the US, I would be more concerned about the use of GM Foods. If you look at what happened with Philidimide! It was declared safe and given to millions of pregnant women. Many babies were born with extrely short hands, arms, feet and legs. They had dwarfish limbs attached to a full size body. At one time, Downs Syndrom was reputed to be linked to "inbreeding". That was false but it was later linked to drugs. How about "Valium"? Once again, it was declared safe and millions of women became "Valium Addicts". With GM foods, we will not know the effects for at least two or three generations. By that time, those scientists and politicians, that will profit from it today, will be dead and buried. They will not be answerable for the genetically malformed humans that are being born. Any defects may never be genetically repaired. It's a high risk and GM is already in the US food chain. Hunger in Africa, shortage of food etc. are only excuses. We do not need GM crops to provide enough food for everyone. If anything, we don't need to grow so much. In the UK, the Government estimates that around 33% of our food is wasted. The US will be similar. Therefore, if both the US and the UK stopped wasting food, there would be enough surplus to feed close to 100 million people, every day. Add the wastage throughout Europe and Australasia and hunger will never be. There is no reason for people to starve except for the US rice farmers profiting through the sale of rice to the UN. In Africa, the biggest reason for starvation is not a shortage of food, it is more to do with the distribution and the cost for the poorest. The same is applying to the additives in fast food. They have the excuse to poison you and / or slowly kill you with GM Oil, GM meat and "Hydrogenated Oil. The companies know what they are doing but sadly, their profit comes before your life. The best thing an American can do to change this is to cut down or even stop eating from fast food outlets, like is happening in the UK.
