Football season just started and I've been dreading it the whole summer. I'm in my junior year and I have a good chance of starting. Last year I was one of 4 sophomores to dress varsity and I lettered too. I just don't want to play anymore. It's not fun for me, I hate every second of it, same with last year. I already stuck it out last year and I don't know if I can for 2 more years. I have other things in mind to do instead like getting a job and getting ready for wrestling season. I'm just scared to do it, I don't know what my teammates and coaches will think, I don't want to hurt the team, or regret it for the rest of my life. The only other things I've quit before were baseball and band, and I'm sure happy I quit them, I have no regrets with those.

I would not quit. I would stick it out and build mental toughness for lessons to be learned later in life.

Quitting now will only lead to quitting bigger issues later.

Stick it out and have the most fun you can. It will only make you stronger.

It is not fun to do all those drills.

I speak from experience I quit football to get a job.. I have regretted it ever since. I wish I stuck it out.

Quitting Football

Don't care what anybody else thinks... especially in high school. They'll get over it, trust me. I quit track when I had some other priorities to take care of and my coach was a little baby. I walked away and laughed it off because I was only one person on the team. Hope they get upset about it. If they do, let it go to your head. That means you really meant something to the team. But life isn't about doing what everyone else wants you to do. You live once and you should live the way you want to.

YES you should quit.

You have to have your heart 100% into football if you play. If not you are going to hate it or get injured.

if you don't like it...don't play

when you get out of high school, you'll realize that you should do things just for other people or because it would make you popular or whatever

just think....if you don't quit, you'll have the whole battle with yourself over the same thing again next summer

Yes. Please. It sounds as though you have a history of quitting.

In the future, maybe put more thought into the things that you sign up for, and stick out the season when you do decide to get involved.

If your heart isn't into it, I say yes. A player needs to be present not only physically.
