Over in R&S, a good many of us "drink" every time someone say "Evolution is just a THEORY" or "If we came from monkies[sic] then why are there still monkies[sic]?" If they offer Pascal's wager, we answer with *drink*.

With the new anthropological discover on Yahoo's front page, we are getting too drunk to fight the good fight. Here's on example:

Please come help... I can't see straight anymore!

I'm there just about every night, at least for a short amount of time...it's hard to keep up with the rapid fire of some of their insane beliefs about science, and I try to be as respectful as possible about their beliefs in religion. Here's to fighting the good fight...

*drink*...hope that one didn't put you over the top.

This is why I hang out in R&S. Bio gets about 3 evolution questions a day. R&S has that many a minute. But your right. As a matter of fact i will do down stairs to the fridge and get something to drink. (yes i actually just got something to drink and opened it). But in Bio if you are retarded enough to say that you get thumbs down like theres no tomarrow. Because that is a horrible punishment somehow. Basically over here we are intelligent enough andi think we shoud start drinking over here. Well actually im just looking for an excuse to drink more.

I hope you are drinking something stiff because here it comes.

Mine is one of the questions you claim is driving you to drinking. I will try to give you a better response than you gave me. Please try to remain sober while you read it. I want you to understand.

There are people out there with opinions I can't respect that want scientists to stop investigating the interaction between life, environment, and other life. They seem to want this in order to protect their views on God. There are also people who use all scientific evidence at their disposal (as well as junk science and things they make up) and falsely claim that the evidence proves God does not exist. I cannot respect those opinions either. No true scientist would.

When someone publishes a text book that charts evolution of a single cell organism into .... into a monkey into .... into a human being, a religion called atheism is being taught in that book. When someone publishes a text book that explains interactions between life forms and their environment without inventing links between them, science is being taught in that book.

Please don't try to tell me evolution isn't a theory while new evidence is being collected, evaluated, and tested. Is the whole process of science not based on the expectation that new evidence will change existing understanding? The foregone conclusion that there will be error in our understanding is one of the fundamental differences between science and religion. Both your reaction to people questioning links to monkeys and your indication that you frequent R&S make me believe that you are not a scientist but rather an athiest trying to spread your religion.

If you are really a scientist, why do you care to argue against people's religious beliefs in a forum dedicated to religious discussions?

Okay, seriously, we have the best of both worlds over there. We get totally smashed, and we get to piss all over some morons ill-conceived notions of the scientific method! What more could you want?

I'd say that we should expand the drinking game to questions that ask why monkeys are still around, but I suspect a lot of us would end up in the hospital...

Brilliant idea... drinking after each creationist post! What's the frequency of liver disease in R&S?

I've been lurking in R&S (mostly) for awhile, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the level of responses I see to creationist posts like this one. Well... and apalled by some of them, but I'm sure you can guess which ones those are.

Thanks for the invitation!

Yes, it is painful, but you cannot let it drive you to drink.

R&S is my other favorite spot on Y!A. I must be a sucker for human illogic and stubbornness.
