None of them are difficult.

The commandment to offer formal prayers five times a day came at a time when there were no labor laws. Pausing work to wash, relax, and offer formal prayers was the first type of legislated work break in history. The worker returns to work after about twenty minutes, refreshed and rededicated to doing right.
It's really a beautiful experience, to arise at dawn and offer formal prayers, as the morning begins.

Fasting can be challenging, depending on the climate and a person's work schedule, but the first reward of the person who has been fasting is the knowledge that s(he) has succeeded, no matter what the day's circumstances were. Breaking the fast is a daily triumph!

(By the way, I fasted today, and thank Allah it was very easy.)

Did you know that a person who is ill or traveling can delay his/her fast until later in the year, after the end of Ramadan? And that a person whose health does not permit fasting at any time can compensate by paying for the food of a poor person?

The central beliefs are not "reflected" in the Five Pillars. The Five Pillars ARE the central beliefs of Islam. I think that the pilgrimage pillar for most people would be the most difficult. A lot of people cannot afford to travel to Mecca. That said, Islam allows for that, so it doesn't matter. It is not as unreasonable and restricted of a religion as many people think. I think the rest of them are equally easiest to fulfill.

The five pillars are as follows:
1) Believing that there is no god but God and Mohammad (p.b.u.h) is the messenger of God (easy)
2) Praying five times a day (hard in the beginning but later you get used to it and want to pray)
3) Zakah: Giving money to poor (easy)
4) Fasting during the month of Ramadan (this could be challenging but since its for a month people get used to it)
5) Hajj (this is only if the person has money to travel to Mecca, then its easy)

I think the pilgrimage to Mecca would be tough, as there are a lot of other places I'd rather visit first.
