Not without cutting a hole in the wall which won't work for you either. However you could get a Portable Air Conditioner they do not get installed in a window. Here's a link for an example: http://www.air-conditioners-america.com/ed_AC_comparisons-10000.asp You should also be able to find these at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Well you can try this. since you know you have to get rid of the hot air you can get some duct tape (my favorite) and make a device that fits over the exhaust that would normally be outside the window, this attachment will reduce the LARGE area to a 4" hole which using said duct tape you can attach a normal everyday 4" dryer hose.....that will run to the window and if it is a tilt out then you have an issue of sealing up the opening with....You guessed it duct tape and cardboard.
Hey you're a college kid, improvise. If it is a double hung window than you are in luck as you can just place the vent and it is OK to squish it a bit and put a couple of towels along the bottom or YUP seal it with cardboard and duct tape.....
Before you do any of this you should probably check and see what size circuit breaker is on the room I bet 15 amps so the trick woud be to run the a/c and a light that's about it. 110 A/C units draw a ton of amperage. that my friend may kill the whole idea. but if it is a 20 amp you may be in luck...
Oh ya, you will need to have it on a table off the floor and have a bucket under it for the condensate to run into. and empty the bucket like takin the dog out.....when you least expect it.
Please let me know if it works...

I don't think James read your question properly. You need to install the unit so it is half inside and half outside the building. Trying to run it with no exit for the hot air would defeat the purpose. Since it is a dorm, you will need to figure out a different way to cool it. Maybe a fan just to move the air around. A portable air conditioner MAY work but you still need to put the discharge hose to the outside.

particular, get what they call a "chop up" air conditioner. I even have one, they are truthfully very universal in Australia. it is going to fee you extra in setting up than a window unit (actually hire an a/c professional), even though it's going to be lots extra useful, and intensely quiet (approximately as loud as a clean ceiling fan). I propose you seem for it in Yahoo procuring by using typing "chop up air conditioner" in the quest. I even have the Soleus 12,000 BTU for a 350 sq. ft room.
