Obviously they picked them to play a part (fat, ugly, old, scarred, disabled, etc) Does that cause self esteem problems since those are the only parts that they qualify to get?

idk bout them but i would definatly think that i had some problems if i could only get those kind of parts. well i dont think that it would cause self esteem problems cause they know that it isnt their true self, its just who they play on TV. They get lots of $$ for it too, so they probably wouldn't be the ones complaining!!! =]

Sometimes people ugly themselves up to win Oscars.
If you're the kind of person who can get up there in front of however many people and act, make a fool of yourself, or even just get through the hard core world of acting, you have to have pretty good self esteem. They probably don't care and are happy to be working.

Who knows? It seems possible.

I always wonder about people credited in movies as "Nerdy Girl #2" and "Fat Girl," etc. Like, did they try out to be fat and nerdy? Wouldn't it suck if you tried out for a nice part like the main character's brother or something, and then they gave you the part of "Nerdy Boy"?

I kind of answered your question with more questions, further pondering your question. Sorry...I hope you liked my opinion.

No way! I mean, i can't speak for them- and certainly not all of them are the same, but I don't think so! It just means they're good actresses/actors. And not all actors are picked to play a part- many have to try out. Which means, that many CHOSE to play that role.

I don't think so, I think they are probably very confident people who know that it's just a job and can deal with that fact. They know that they are beautiful on the inside where it matters. Also, sometimes they have been made up to look worse, just look at Charlize Theron in Monster. She looked awful, but in real life she is very beautiful.

The girl who plays Ugly Betty, America Ferrerra, is glad to be as that role. She loves being Betty and wearing the clothes. She said it gives her confindence. They give her "fat girl" roles but really, she is really pretty and confident. She is my role model! But good question. I will give you a star! =)

yea but even the ugly people get praise, acknowledgment, recognition where ever they go, people asking for autographs, money, special treatment, etc, so that helps build their self esteem.
