Yea they work very well. If you get screwed up by traffic or something and can't make the turn it tells you to, they quickly reroute and get you back on course. Very nice if you are in a strange city.

Mine has preloaded points of interest (POI), such as restaurants. It's handy when driving down the highway to turn the POIs on. You can find a place off the highway with a cluster of restaurants so you know which exit will have the best potential for finding a place to eat. Mine has lots of POI choices such gas stations, ATM machines, hospitals, shopping, parks..... you can narrow many of those down to something more specific - like pizza restaurants. Also, the phone number is included so you can call ahead if wish.

They don't necessarily give you the most direct route to a location. The directions tend to stick with major roads.

Another con is that the POI database probably isn't current. It would be good if you can find one that you can modify the POI information via computer. Another nice feature to find, if it exists would be to be able to plan a route on a computer using some mapping program then upload that route into the GPS. Preconfiguring a detailed route into a GPS device is difficult.

I have the factory option GPS in my Toyota.

What's your definition of "that good"? If you travel to a lot of places that you don't regularly go, then it might be a good investment. If you only rarely do this, you might just want to print out some turn by turn maps from mapquest, google, or other website. If you most often drive around your own city to places that you allready know, then you will probably find yourself not using it much. You didn't indicate in your question what exactly you wanted it for.

They work great. I drove from Tampa to Denver and never got lost using my Garmin C330. Although I made a wrong turn in Nashville my GPS put me right back on track. Very highly recommended if you do a lot of traveling in unfamiliar area.

They are wonderful. After having one in a car I purchased a few years ago I can not imagine not having it in my future cars. If you do a lot of driving or you are not good with directions this is a must. I like the ones that talk to you as you drive.
