They were not bigtoed towards them and now they are.

And, also minorities as well?

Yes, I do. I did, actually.

On orientation, I've never known anyone to do that. But if it happens, I'll bet it was the result of either 1) A religious conversion of some sort or 2) Finding out that a family member was molested by someone gay and then assuming it's just gays who molest (when we are the least frequent molesters by a mile).

Minorities: I've seen some people become bigoted with time. Usually it's because of a few bad experiences with a certain ethnicity that they extrapolate out.

Do you know anyone like that, Mac?

I have a cousin who used to be cool with everyone, then he got involved with a lady and joined some church that had meetings in a vacant warehouse or something, and they married. Well, after awhile my cousin didn't like anyone, told everyone what to do and how to act, and eventually he got around to blaming black people for crime, gay people were child killers, Asians were communists, all Arabs were terrorists, and the only ones that could be trusted were pure blooded white people. Long story short, they divorced, he shaved his head, got busted for dealing crystal meth or coke, I forget, and will eligible for parole in about 7 more years if he stops fighting everyone in prison, but he still has his Bible to justify his behavior.

My ex-best friend was once friendly towards me, a lesbian, and the lesbian friends that I had when I knew her. After a while, she stopped being friendly. Because she thought I was going to hit on her. Pft. Not even my type. But, she's married with 2.4 kids now and is pretty miserable, so maybe she wishes I had hit on her...

Surprisingly, I know somebody who actually went the other way. A former female co-worker of mine, who broke up with her long-term boyfriend when she found out he was seeing other people...and they weren't girls. I thought she would've pretty much hated gay men after that, but because we share a love of entertainment trivia, I guess, we hit it off from the word "go". Not at all what I expected!

Unfortunately yes, but I must blame her. She was an acquaintance to myself and a couple of my lesbian friends. She watched QAF and laughed, and loved gay themed shows. Her boyfriend (now husband) didn't think it was appropriate to hang out with homosexuals. Instead of telling her boyfriend she could talk to who she like she succumbed. We still to this day never understood why.

I've never been all that bigtoed. My toes are of average size, and I find that they don't really have much of an effect upon my opinion of homosexuality.

May I suggest to you that you do a search on the uses of the Past Perfect form of the verb?
