Can anyone help me to get past the cyclops on Shrek the Third for xbox 360?

It's the sleeping beauty level and I just get killed within seconds every time

You have to hit him over and over until you can use the finishing move on him. But take note that you can't distract him with the fairy dust attack or make him feel sleepy like what you can do to other opponents.

Poke him in the eye then bash him on the heid. Havent played the game but thats the tactic i would use if i ever had to fight a cyclops
