The pick-up does sound louder, but I don't drive very much, maybe about 6 miles a day, just to work and back. Now, I need to go out of town, I'll be on the highway for about 2 and a half hours, round trip. Will it be OK? Or do I need to have it fixed before I go? I just hate spending money on an old pick-up. Thanks!

Please get it fixed. I don't want to see your name in the obituaries for a while, yet. When you go to the muffler shop, ask for a cheap one (around $100, installed).

Go have it fixed, whether your traveling, or just commuting to work.
Besides the objectionable noise to your neighbors, you risk carbon-monoxide poisoning. Exhaust fumes from the underside of your car are escaping from the pipe and the muffler, not being routed through to the tailpipe.
Without proper routing of the exhaust fumes, they can enter the interior of the vehicle and cause sickness, or even death.
Carbon-monoxide is odorless, so you won't know it 'til it's too late.

Get in the shop today. It does not take much fumes from the exhaust system of your car to make you deathly sick and perhaps even kill you. If you are stopped at a light for a good while, air cond. is running---Two and half hours would be dangerous. Better to spend money on the old pickup , than for someone to spend 6,000.00 to bury you. Hurry up and do it. u worry me.

It could come off and then you'll have real problems. And you could be exposed to exhaust fumes which could kill you. Get it fixed at the first opportunity!

ya could try duct tape and a soda can to temporaily fix it, but then again like the other poster said you could just have a real long nap from carbon monxide poisoning, your choice.
