"younger and college educated Hispanics in particular offer fertile ground for republicans, new data shows"

How can this be? A question some liberals are too scared to answer honestly.

There is more than one answer.

It's not often I don't 'answer the question', but it is amazing how quickly these folks dismiss Fox News without rebuttal. It's also interesting that they completely ignored the fact that the piece came off the wire services and wasn't written by Fox. Betcha a donut, most didn't actually read the article, just saw the source and dismissed it. As a result, they're just marinating in their koolaid. But then, what do you expect from folks who get most of their news from The Daily Show and have nothing better to counter your facts with than a strongly worded, 'Huh uh!'.

'Progressives'. Gotta love those little buggers.

Read the WHOLE article, not just the headline. Democrats are losing Hispanic registrants to Independents, not Republicans.

Republicans consider it an opportunity. It is an opinion from some campaign strategists who are scratching for votes. Not a observed fact.
Others are of the opinion that it would NOT increase chances of being a Republican...and since they haven;t changed their registration to Republican ,they are more likely right.

By the way, heres an article on the same topic NOT presented by FOX called 'Hispanics turning back to Democrats for 2008"

Once you start learning about the Constitution and the oringinal role of government, you realize they are now overextending their boundaries into our lives. (This includes your pocketbook.) Instead of the Church, or other charities, providing for the needy, we've created a monster government that keeps adding social programs, etc. and dragging down the middle class.

We need to elect Conservatives who understand the Constitution and role of government, and put money back into the hands of the People, not so they can hold on to it, but so we can know for sure that the excess money we have will actually make it to the ones who NEED it.

Both the Democrats and Republicans have their educated and their uneducated, and I don't think either has a monopoly on intelligence. I do wonder sometimes why YA has seemed to attract only the stupid Cons? Also, anything coming from FOX has the news value of a mickey mouse cartoon, so your news source is certainly suspect.

Fox "news" eh?

you forgot the "Hispanic" part in your question...
Just like a Republican, take a story and leave out a crucial part to try to spin it your way.

"Democrats continue to hold a healthy advantage with Hispanics, and nearly seven in 10 Hispanic voters supported Democratic congressional candidates last year. Party leaders say independent Hispanics lean Democratic, so the registration percentage dip is not as significant as the figures might suggest."

and yeah, abu# 2 it is an AP article, but FOX chose to run it.

I have a whole group of Hispanic college-educated friends in TEXAS, and not ONE is Republican. But then again, your source is questionable (Fox News).

Plus the article says that Hispanics are identifying themselves more as Independents, and that that gives the Repubes more ground.

This premise is wrong because Independent voters go for the Democrat candidate 2/3rds of the time. Fox News is KOOKOO indeed.

One part of the equation is that by the time a person has gone through 4 years of college they have listened to thousands of hours of liberal drivel and have finally seen that it has no basis in reality. The other part is that they have figured out you can do more for yourself and your family when you are educated. Once educated you make more money and Republicans let you keep more of what you earn. They are not forever saying we need to raise taxes to pay for something. College broadens the mind.

A more likely reason is that these young Hispanics had to work to get their education, as opposed to being a gift from their Daddy. Anyone who works and saves their money to get an education to better themselves is far more likely to become a Republican.
Those who get a degree in Basket weaving, Black history, Feminism, Gay Pride, or Journalism are far more likely to become Democrats.

Are you talking about college students who are given a free education from mommy and daddy or those that work their way through?

The longer and harder I worked to put myself through school, the more liberal my views became. Having spoiled rich kids make fun of my work study job probably had something to do with that.
