I might die if my heart was on my sleeve.
I prefer to keep it in my chest.

The origin is from Shakespeare's "Othello". Iago (a sneaky, cunning, conniving fellow) says "For when my outward action doth demonstrate The native act and figure of my heart In compliment extern, 'tis not long after But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve For daws to peck at: I am not what I am" He is saying that he's a fake and a fraud, and were his actions to mirror his true thoughts, he would be wearing his heart on his sleeve where it is vulnerable. It's really not about emotions, it's about one's true nature. Iago wasn't a nice guy.

um, no. I don't know about you but I prefer my heart to remain in my chest where it is still beating. I think wearing it on my sleeve would be a rather painful experience, don't you? ;)

Yes because although the pain of loss may be great the prospect of love is always worth the pain. That's my opinion anyway.

Always. I have a habbit of just saying what's in my mind before I actually think about it. Never done me any harm though.
