It's a surprise isn't it? So long as the Press were swallowing the "Team McCann" stories it was important to keep Madeleine's name in the Press, but as soon as reporters start asking awkward questions it's time to lay low?

You know what, even if they aren't guilty of anything more than neglect (for which they need to be investigated), they have been there own worst enemies in this "campaign". They've constantly contradicted themselves and each other, openly lied to the Press, blamed everyone but themselves and tried to make out that in the UK it is acceptable to leave your kids unattended because of "cultural differences"!!! The amount of people I know who supported them in the beginning but have since changed their opinions is astonishing. Their attempts at PR have backfired hugely, leaving them in this position. From the very beginning of this case, when they decided to leave their kids every night to go out on the p*ss, they have no one to blame but themselves. Madeleine is the only victim in this case, not her Parent's.

BTW, (Hypothetically) if it does turn out that something sinister went on, and the Tapas 9 were ALL involved in some way, shape or form, how long do you think it'll be before Gerry & Kate put the blame on their friends? I'd be very careful if I were in that group, it seems the only people the McCann's know how to protect is themselves. They certainly didn't protect Maddie and she was their flesh and blood, what hope do their freinds have?

What's changed is that the Portuguese press are asking leading questions!

Got to ask something that's bothered me from when Madeleine went missing at first. Different sports - like football, rugby etc - were using their big screens to promote Madeleine's picture. Her image was appearing everywhere. BUT - the Formula 1 Grand Prix was held in SPAIN on Sunday 13 May - just across the border and a couple of weeks after Madeleine went missing You won't get much higher profile than F1 which is International but there wasn't ONE mention of her name, never mind a picture. There was a chance to beam her picture round the world and hand out leaflets to thousands of people. Was that a wasted opportunity or what? I found it very strange and as you may gather, it STILL bothers me.

I agree with you. I would keep the campaign high profile no matter what questions were asked and I certainly wouldn't have the bad manners to walk out of an interview because I didn't like the question. I would expect those kinds of questions and deal with them accordingly without blowing my cool. Afterall the question that made him walk out was "How did you feel when blood was found in the apartment?" surely his personal feelings aren't subject to the police enquiry. I am fluent in Spanish and live in Spain so I saw the interview and there were moments when he did look frightened.

The press is not interested in keeping Maddie`s memory, they want the truth.

Probably because he's getting worried now as there seems to be some progress in the case.

His behaviour has been odd .. not the behaviour we are used to seeing ....

Bunny in the headlights springs to mind and he knows he can not keep up the lies anymore ....

He believed he was intelligent enough to get away with it and cream money of naive members of the public

He did not expect the Portuguese media to be so forth coming and dog determined
