well , we shall get the concept right first. you are right that people of present generation lag moral education. even if moral education is put into primary education it would not be of great help(only to some extent useful).the reason why i say this is as follows-
i believe that education means bringing out the best from every child. now, moral education should be from the childs heart. you cant teach moral education, but you can cultivate them. so, i mean that the enviroment in which child grows up plays a major role than anything

I think that children are just plain spoiled. Not materially necessarily but mentally & emotionally.

There are no reprecussions for their actions therefore they do whatever they want and have no guilt.

If you slap a small child it's physical abuse, if you yell at a child it's mental abuse. If a child fails grade 5 it could be emotionally disturbing and so we push them through. Anytime a child does something wrong it's not his fault. He's just a kid he doesn't know any better.

We, as a society, are trying to raise confident, healthy children. I think though, that alot of parents are going overboard protecting their kids from the real world. They're becoming self centred and hurtfull to others.

Yes, kids need moral education and it needs to start at home.

Yes, he's just a kid and doesn't know any better but it's our job to teach him. If people would just go back to the basic child rearing tactics of rewarding good behaviour and punishing bad behaviour, I really believe we'd have less problem children.

Yes, yes, and yes.
We use PBIS in our school - character education. Our kids come to school without knowing how to treat their peers, and their teachers. It's as though they have spent their preschool years simply in front of the TV watching idiotic cartoons with parents who don't give a da** about how moral or ethical their kids are going to be. It's the "ME" generation. Parents come into school and think that it's OK that their child bit someone or knocked another child down, or threatened a teacher. We have certainly failed somewhere along the line. It's an ongoing battle for all teachers.

I think the basics of morality should be in the day to day lives f younger students, but i'm not sure its the schools place to be the moral guide. The parents should be setting the moral example. A school can not take the place of nurturing parents.

no, because i don't want a Buddhist or a catholic teaching my child what i should be teaching them at home.
I'm not knocking those religions, i just don't agree with them personally for me and would prefer i teach my child my Baptist views at home and then let them make their own choice when they get out into the world.
