Statistically speaking, probably not they'd have to play stellar baseball and everyone else would have to play awful. They are playing much better baseball then we've seen from them in quite a while though.

No ... the Central is too strong for them to have even a chance of making the playoffs. They would need to make a Yankee-like run in possibly the toughest division in the entire league (right with the AL East). Cleveland and Detriot will be battling for that top spot, and the are Yankees in the mix for the Wildcard spot now; this will make it even tougher for Minnesota to make a run, never mind the Royals. They're playing better than they did last season, but it's not a playoff team at all. They don't have the qualities of a team that can play in October; they need as solid rotation with a legit closer (Joakim Soria isn't going to cut it under pressure in the 9th inning of a 1 run game with the tying runner on 3rd). They also can't have all these players on the DL. While currently there are 10 men on the DL, they only have 4 starters, one being a somewhat good pitcher in Meche. Dotel is gone, so you can kiss a good setup man good-bye. This team just doesn't have anything to build with.

It would be nice to see them there but they are 14 games back right now. The last 10 games they lost 6 and won only 4 so they wont catch up very fast doing that. Plus their schedule doesn't look very nice either. Well they do play the Rangers a few games but those games could go either way. So it looks like if they were to make the playoffs it would take some awesome baseball from the Royals and some bad play from the rest of the American league. Go Royals.

No way. They are playing better than last season, but they're still in the stellar. If they can sign another free agent that turns out to do surprisingly well like Gil Meche, than maybe next season they will hang around the .500 mark. Then the season after that their players will really start developing and the team will gain chemistry.

No I dont, because we are talking about the Royals.
Now, I am a Kansas girl so I am predisposed to like the royals, but after year and years of dissapointment from them I know better than to think they will make the post season.
There is no team out there that is better at snatching defeat from the hands of victory!

No.

They are 14 games out of the division lead, and there are 4 teams ahead of them. They are 13.5 games out of the wild card, and there are 8 teams ahead of them.

It's just about impossible to make up all those games on all those teams, with only 50 games left, especially when 2 of your 5 starters have ERAs hovering around 6.

No way......they don't have nearly enough pitching. Meche and De La Rosa are ok but they don't have a solid top of the rotation guy. Plus they play in the toughest division in baseball. They are at least two years away from contending for a playoff spot.

Not this year. At this point they're too far back in a division that is full of really good teams to make that type of run to make it to the playoffs. Possibly in a year or two.

No. Teams like KC and Tampa Bay have thepotential to be great teams. But how can your team succeed when the owners don't spend the necessary money to bring in great players. Sure, they can destroy you if you take them lightly but they don't have the firepower to keep that going. It basically comes down to their pitching.

Are you serious?

No.. they have no shot in hell.

They would have to pass minnesota, cleveland, detroit and even the Yankees. All teams that are MUCH better then they are.
