From the start i knew somthing was not quite right with this case, ( it was always neglect by the parents ) i would never give money to those two, so called parents. Madeleine never needed any money, she just needed parents who where there for her, i do feel sorry for the people who give money though, they where taken in by the Mcs, the Mcanns have lots of fund money now ( 1 million pounds +) but it still has not found poor Madeleine. please give to the NSPCC

I didn't donate to their fund, as soon as I realised it was a private company I was suspicious about it. I donated to the NSPCC and the Missing Person's Helpline instead. Can you imagine what they could have done with £1 million? Countless children and people at risk could have been helped by these noble charities, instead that money is in a bank account somewhere, earning interest which then goes back to the company. I think those people that did donate should ask for their money back IF the McCann's do turn out to be implicated in some way. Although, I feel that subsidising the lifestyle of a couple who were arrogant and stupid enough to repeatedly leave their children in harm's way is offensive enough.

Donate to the missing persons helpline. If Maddie is found dead, then perhaps allow some for funeral costs and donate the rest to MPH as there are thousands of people who disappear without a trace, and I'm sure that her parents would want to help others in their search for their absent loved ones. I hope Maddie is found - whether alive or dead, as the not knowing must be destroying her parents. If she's found dead, it will offer them some closure and they can begin to grieve. While it would be great for her to be found alive, realistically, I don't believe there's much chance of that now.

I never donated, as it never occured to me to do so. If other people felt, in the goodness of their hearts, that they should do so, well, that is up to them.
And yes, if I had donated, and IF they were guilty, I would want the money back. Don't think you could get it back, legally, though. A donation is a donation.
As for the guy who commented about the fact that we think doctors do no wrong - well, the gp I took the little boy I looked after, was convicted of paedaphilia. So I am very open minded.

I have not donated but I did consider doing so in the very early days. If I had donated and it turned out the parents had anything to do with it I would want my money returned and then I would donate it to the NSPCC. I think the mccanns have more than enough money with nearly £1 million. I wonder what they are spending it on? It would be nice to be told. I certainly hope that it is not paying for all their extended family/friends to live out in Portugal. I would think most people donated on the understanding that it was spent solely on finding madeleine.

What Ho,
I must register sympathy with the McCanns, and pray for the lasses' safe return. But.
I have noticed a growing amount pf response as to the media coverage, the funding which allows them an extended holiday, the fact thet ultimately they left very young chidren alone whilst nipping down the pub. is bothering to most of us.
I would have never have left my children alone at that age, and would be embarrassed to receive a lot of cash for doing so.

Also they seem to come across as all sheepish & scared.
That is not the normal reaction if you have lost a daughter.

I pay Oxfam and the NSPC etc. my bit, but I am darned if the McCanns get a bean.

Bob.

I was very suspicious of this fund as soon as it was set up. I have always wondered why it was set up so quickly after the dissapearance, I would have thought other things would be on your mind rather than setting up a private company to take money and setting up a website and flying here there and everywhere. I never felt that throwing money at this family would help them.

unfortunatley I know people who have had their fingers burnt, we had a request from a person who worked for another 'area' that I work requesting money for their child so that they could take them on a make a wish holiday as the child was very sick, they raised a lot of money and it actually turns out that there was nothing wrong with this child at all.

I never donated money to this scam, nor will I. Those million £s ought to be taken out of the McCann's fund, and it should either be returned to the donors, or donated to help find other missing children all over the world, maybe both. The McCanns should end up with nothing.

I donated at the very start of all this, but i wouldn't want it back. Somehow it would feel as if i were taking the money from Madeleine as it was meant to help her. Does that sound crazy? Maybe the "parents" could use it to buy a book on parenting!

i didn't give because i thought there was something wrong from the beginning -- if i had then - very valid point - yes i would want it back

if anyone wants to look at a genuine appeal then take a look at ' the jack brown appeal' it'll break your heart - i know the people so i know it's true - whatever the result for Jack the rest of the money will go to other children like him
