Which penguin? Where? There are many different species of penguin through the southern hemisphere. All the Antarctic penguins are completely protected and those in Australian and New Zealand are as well. As far as I know, the African and South American penguins are also protected. I have not heard that any particular species of penguin is critical but the species most likely to be threatened are The Fjordland and Yellow-eyed penguins of new Zealand and the Galapagos penguin.
