This is possible, but according to the experts not actually probable. The long time scale and immense logistics of actually genetically engineering a species of people is astoundingly difficult, and probably not cost-effective unless the aliens were doing it for some profitable purpose such as using early Humans as slave miners or agricultural workers or something like that. There was a TV show this week about this possibility.
Did they visit Earth and interbreed with our ancestors?
Again, this is possible but even more improbable except for one possibility. Obviously a totally alien race of beings would almost certainly not be viable breeding partners for human beings. They would not have the same DNA or maybe they wouldnt even have any DNA, making interbreeding impossible. But...the one possibility for making this possible is what if these aliens were us? What if we were descended from some human aliens from other star systems who came here and seeded this planet with their own kind? It is even possible that the human form is universal throughout the universe. Human DNA or Earth DNA since we share 99% of our DNA with every living thing on this planet including plants apparently originally came from off-world, possibly in a comet collision or even by visitors from outer space. Maybe this type of DNA is found everywhere in our galaxy? If this were the case then their DNA would be compatible with our own and interbreeding would have been possible. This could account for some of the quantum leaps that Human evolution has undergone throughout the last 2.5 million years such as the jump from Homo Erectus and Homo Neanderthalis to Cro-Magnon or Homo-Sapiens. No one has ever been able to fully explain how this ocurred. What caused these early more primitive Humans to evolve so swiftly into modern Humans? This is the missing link they have been looking for for so long. To date this link has not been found and this leaves the door open to this question of off-world intervention.
All in all though, I doubt that we were created by aliens.
I don't know about you but I was created by my mom and dad, they were created by their moms and dads and so it goes back to the beginnings of time. Nature is somehow responsible for this whole system. God? Yes, why not... but it is hard to prove scientifically. However that does not mean that it would be impossible to prove, just hard with the current means at our disposal.

This is Erich van Daniken's discredited theory. There is much fossil evidence and explanation of human evolution without needing any gods or aliens from other planets. The distances between any habitable planets is too great for beings from them to visit each other. The nearest star to our sun is Proxima centauri. If we left earth at its escape velocity, it'd take 106,448 years to reach any planet Proxima Centauri has. Travelling at the velocity of light or over it are fantasies.

That is a loaded question Hon. We are a part of the human DNA experiment and are here to settle an issue.

I've always thought this theory that aliens made humans was dumb. If for no other reason than it begs the question of, "Who made the aliens?"

So long story short, no.

Maybe...

But can you imagine how alien the aliens who created the aliens must be...?!?

Whoa!

That would be pretty weird, huh...?!?

No. Nasa hasn't proved aliens existing yet so I say no.

I believe so. It would explain a number of things. And the Sumerians seem to have believed so.
