Yeah i've heard that conspiracy theory. It was going around at my school a couple years ago.

They said that how Hip Hop music was made cos apparently black people weren't listening to "satanic" heavy metal so they made hip hop..blah blah blah.

I wouldn't say i believe but i have stopped listing to bone thugs in harmony & 3 6 maffia cos i am a lil freaked out. But honestly i do think its just a conspiracy theory.

I'm not about to get on you about asking a question; because the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. Having said that, let me tell you about the "Truth Behind Hip Hop", the preacher G. Craige Lewis manipulates hip hop lyrics and meaningless insignia to scare us into not listening to hip hop. There are plenty of obvious reasons why hip hop is a slippery slope to eternal damnation (fast money, women, and cars) but trust me, selling your soul to the devil? not one of them. And Mary J. Blige is a born-again Christian, so I don't think her name should be on any list about the Devil. Now hun, please don't believe every crazy thing you hear...andSnoop Dogg? He probably lost his soul one night when he was high in Amsterdam...just saying...

When songs like "Chicken Noodle Soup", "Laffy Taffy", and "Lip Gloss" can pass for good Hip Hop (I'd go so far as to say that's not even Hip Hop, period) then you KNOW somebody had to have sold their soul to the music industry!

Ok, maybe the 'soul' thing is a little exaggerated, but there really are more sellout rappers than ever. They are willing to say anything on the mic to get a little single, and a check. Of course most don't last after thier little single is played out, and when one sellout rapper is all used up, the record companies just sign up the next person take their place and rap about stereotypes. You know, banging, hoes, bling, and the club.

It's all about hype now than real talent. Sex and drama sell. I don't know if one person can change things, but I can make sure I do my part and not buy into that sellout rap. So I look for talented artists like Common, Nas, The Roots, and so on. And I'd rather have to look hard for true Hip Hop than ever buy one of Curtis, or Calvin's albums.

**Give me a thumbs down if you want. But some pastor spouting off ridiculous things about Hip Hop IS NOT HELPING ANYBODY. You CAN'T just go at the rappers. There's a BIGGER issue. The industry is to blame too because they market rap to be all about sex and drama.

And then most of all, the so-called fans who buy that stuff because if they didn't then the music execs and sellout rappers wouldn't have jobs. So give me a thumbs down if you want, but saying things about how rappers sold their souls to the devil definitely isn't the answer.**

This comes from the old legend about Robert Johnson(Blues pioneer/creator-whichever way you want to play it) selling his soul to play the best guitar in the world---rap stars are very good at marketing-Mary J Blige however is just talent -pure and simple-IMO kanye west is very overrated .

I don't think that I've heard that one. But I think that people should not be saying that...I mean just because someone is good at something doesn't mean that they sold their soul to the devil. And besides I don't think that anyone is that dumb to do that just to make their lives better. Well...on second thought...there is a lot of greedy people in this world that wants nothing but a perfect life. X(

I've heard about this with three 6 mafia, and it kinda makes sense, Lord Infamous rapped about demons, spirits and hell, and the music behind their rap does sound like something you'd hear in hell, and there's a lot of references to the devil and hell in their music, also some say that the name 3 6 mafia actually represents the number 666. But I haven't heard about this with other rappers.

WEIRD never heard of it, I wouldn't believe it to be honest it's impossible to do that, but then again it's so much evil on this Earth, I wouldn't be surprised that there is a Devil on this earth for them or something crazy like that. Crazy, crazy and crazy! Some of them are really good artists. but if they are on drugs, anyone can go crazy sometime and these celebrities, it just gets to their head I suppose.

your question made me want to do a little investgation myself.
i examined both the songs by jay-z "lucifer" one mixed by kanye west and the other mixed by danger mouse. i found this video on you tube with the same backwards playing that the precher had. please review.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oRyrhJdwCw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDSsoZIaymA

i have a program called mixmister where i can play songs backwards. i went to all the spots where they claimed these messages are hidden. there is no message what so ever. all i found, in fact, is that the song says the words "jesus", "murder", and "six" (one time).
in other words they grabbed the pharses and play them backwards first then play them "normal" and reconfigure it to make it sound like it is being played normaly to reveal a "hidden message".

i also found this video to if you don't believe me. that precher is good but i think he should do a little homework before he goes around calling people devil worshipers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geTwejLIh-I

just for kicks i got a video here for you where you can actually see them making the song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=algsmgkeMJM

just a bunch of black guys making a song that's it. we hold celebritys so high we forget they are just regular people. look i've been listening to hip hop my whole life and in no shape or form do i want to worship anything but my god alone. people have took it too far take a look at this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap_JVqKiPdc

anyway hope this helps you on your journey.

Yeah, did you hear about Elvis, 2Pac, Biggie, Jimi Hendrix and John Bonham making a comeback with a Rock n Roll/Hip-Hop group too, they are in hiding, apparently somewhere near Bognor Regis and have been supporting themselves by posing as cover acts of themselves, oh, apart from Biggie, he just signs on the dole the lazy raas...basically, this post is absurd as my story, but gave me a giggle anyway.
