Reduce photo file size without reducing picture size [animated gif file]?

Question

I have a picture thats 449kb and to upload it onto bebo skins it needs to be 40kb. Does anyone know how to reduce the file size without resizing the picture as bebo only allows this size. Also it's an animated gif so that makes it more complicated. Please help

good quality image optimisation software such as adobe image ready.
If not centre on the main subject and use gaussian blur on the background - that helps cut out excess KB - is making the image grayscale an option?

Hey Mandy, try this:

Open up Paint and go onto file, open and open this GIF file you want to upload. When it has loaded, then save it as a BMP or JPEG file.

Then, do exactly the same as stated above up to the point where you save it. Make sure the size of the picture (Actual size on the screen) is a small portion smaller and then save it as a GIF file, once again.

After this, check the size of the file to see how much it has lowered down to. Hope fully this works. Good luck!

The only way to do it is to drop the resolution of the picture from say 400, to 75 If I knew the resolution of the present photo then I could tell you what size to make it. so it looks like you will have to expieriment until you get it small enough, it is easy to do in a photo program like photo deluxe, or photoshop.

Open in Microsoft Photo Editor, go to Resize->Image then put in the required meseaurements.
