I live in Bakersfield, Ca, and we are having the coolest summer that I can remember. Typically, by june we are in the high 90s and breaking 100. August and September we are constantly over 100. Last year had to be a record for the amount of days (had to be over 40) in the triple digit, reaching 112.
This year we are seeing temps in the 80s both last month and this and have had only four or five days over 100 so far. But then, it never seems to fail, as extreme as the weather usually is here, if the rest of the country is having crazy weather, ours mellows out and becomes rather pleasant.
We sit here and marvel at what is happening around the country but sure don't want to complain and mess up our good fortune. Next year it will probably be back to normal. Yuk!
PS: Yeah, undomiel99, I grew up in Fla on the Atlantic coast. When it is in the 90s and the humidity is 100 there is no place on earth quite like it. That is what defined the dog days of summer.
Joseph C, shut up! Just kidding...we envy you.

I live in the New York City area. I've been through tornadoes in the midwest. I did not expect a tornado to hit through the NYC area. After the morning storms and the bad subway services (no subways were going through midtown and lower Manhattan areas in the morning), the temperatures hit as high as 98 degrees yesterday and humid. NYC will be around the mid 80s and pleasant (but those temps will go up the next couple of days). Stay cool!
