I'm 16 and my uncle gave me his 94 camaro z28 w/ T-tops as a present. It looks good, but the paint job is showing its wear. It's not the nicest paint job, but it will do for now. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how much it would be to get another paint job. Also if someone could explain some of the different types of paint.

Thanks!

A couple hundred bucks if you want a cheap "chitty" type job.

Several thousand for a "good" one.

And around 10K and up for a show car type job.

As others have said, Maaco starts around 200 bucks to do the color you have now. I've seen the results of that, and sadly it isn't worth even $200. Maaco can do a nice job, but it will cost over $500 and take them a few days longer.
I had my Firebird repainted in '02 and it cost just over $6000. Most of that was the prep work, as they had to spend a lot of time getting the body smooth and straight, then strip the Maaco junk off. It would have been half the price if I had delivered a paint ready vehicle. If it doesn't need major body work, try it yourself and take it to the shop in primer ready to paint. You will learn something and save cash.

like what others have said...it depends on how long you want it to stay... you can get a show car paint job for real cheap but only last for a year or two... if you are going for the entire car painted inside and out... then get ready to pay a pretty penny... but you can find a good paint job for about 500 for painting the outside only no door jams... just shop around and talk to a few people...

Depends on how you wan't your paint job to look and how long you wan't it to look that way. Cheap paint job to respray the car same color as it is starts at $200. That means masking and painting the outside. No door jams or under the hood. If you want a good solid paint job you will pay $1500 plus depending on prep. Polyurethane Enamel paint is the way to go. It is solid and last long.
