Not All LGA 775 support core2Duo Processor ..
it should be Intel 945 and up ...
and the best is to use Intel 965P..

Core2 Duo only came out early last year. LGA775 mobos with 2005 or older BIOS most likely do not support C2D. Old but cheap chipsets like i865, i915, Sis 661FX, VIA PT880 can now be found in new LGA775 mobos that support C2D. Check this out:

they have to state it some 975 don't support C2D'(PC shop I go to went as far as stop selling them because that)
965/P35 almost always support C2D
