I grew up in a small town in Victoria, Australia. I loved it. Now I live in the city and I miss the silence and peace, but when I go home I realise that the city came to meet that small town I hold so clearly in my mind.. So, I guess my memory of that small town I remember as a young child is all I have now. I think that's what makes me want it so badly..
So for me definitely a small town..

Small Town. The big city(where unfortunately live) is more noisy, fast pace, alot of pollution, and crime rates are usually high. People in Small towns are usually more friendly and show hospitality. I also to go to the lake or a field in Small Towns so I can meditate. Oh and I can't forget the fresh air.

I grew up in Dallas until College then some time later moved to "Mayberry." I thought I'd hate it and vowed to leave as soon as I could afford to. But I didn't and it grew on me - and my kids.
Now I'd probably never leave unless forced to leave for a new career that isn't offered this far out in the boonies.
But I love the country. It's true. It's pure. It's simple. What you see is what you get. What ever you contribute to the land, you get back. Whatever you take, you suffer for unless you give it back. So much easier to be around than people.
When I went back to Dallas several years ago, I went into a restaurant to wait for a friend. Around the bar area it was jam packed with people on cell phones. To be THAT close to people and not talk to them, to be THAT packed and still be that isolated. Wow.

In between. I live in a decent size city within an hour or so of New Orleans. Thats big enough for me. I like being outdoors and Louisiana is sportmans paradise. Within 10 or 15 minutes from my house I can be in the swamps or woods. Within a couple of hours I can be in my boat in the Gulf.

Small town, all the way. We don't have crime to speak of, the air is clean, the water is clean, people have manners. We know who people are. If we want to shop there's the internet. If we want to go out there are plenty of restaurants and bars to visit.
Cities are pits and they're getting worse all the time. I could never live in a city again.

Small Town! I love having people wave at me as they drive by while I am mowing my lawn, and running into friends in the grocery store and the bank. It's so much more friendly and familiar than the big city life.
