The kind of assistance that even over the internet, could make a difference? To be someone with a plan to wither 'buddy up with' or offer suggestions ? This person is me. It has come one by illness and being sedentary....i am being honest. i have done this before to great success, but with cancer and kidney stones now both gone, the remaining package (me) needs self esteem and a plan....got any ideas? Anyone out there who is going to give me a hard time, don't bother, i have enough grief in my life right now. I am serious, and this is an honest plea. Notice I am not saying "I have this friend .....etc." I need an alliance who can offer suggestions...odd when it is ME that people have some to for this for over twenty years. Dietary regimen is paramount.....i am open to your suggestions, do NOT treat me as a joke, I represent those as well as myself who need this kind of help....Thanks in advance.

Hello Mistress, nice to see you again. It takes guts to be as honest as you are right now, integrity too. Good for you. I think that the best would be for you to have an actual friend around where you live to start an exercise program with. If your friends would not be up to the challenge, a trainer (then the money comes in...) so if both options are out of the question, you have a few people here you can count on including myself who could help you in this new goal of yours. It sounds like you have already been through a lot and your fighting spirit is inspiring.

as far as first hand ideas, i recommend yoga (the physical types such as: bikram, ashtanga, ...) bikram is done in a heated room and if you can take the heat, this yoga will definitely help you in getting rid of weight including water retention. If not, many types of yoga are great to include in a diet plan because of the physical and mental benefits they offer.

A member recommended walking. I agree. great exercise.

as far as diet is concerned:
no junk food, none.
no sodas = none
3 balanced meals / day including lots of veggies and fruits. No little snacks in between. If the meals are balanced, you shouldn't feel hungry in between. It is important that you eat well and all these extreme diets (like no cark, all proteins, or vice versa: I would stay away from them). best,

Hi Sweetie! I was in that very same position and would love to "buddy up" with you! What worked miracles for me was a high protein/low carb diet along with a lot of walking. Walking is the key. Start slowly and gradually increase for distance. A great investment is a treadmill for bad weather. You can walk while watching tv or listening to your favorite music. I cut way down on carbs. When I do have carbs I make sure they are nutrient rich, like whole wheat pasta and lo-cal whole wheat bread. It is a must to drink plenty of water, this flushes toxins from your system. If you have a gym nearby, that's a great investment too. I love the gym. You can burn off a lot of stress and meet a lot of great people too! Gyms are NOT just for the "beautiful people." There are regular people there too! Don't give up! That's the key. And remember, we didn't gain this weight overnight, so we can't lose it that way either. You need patience and consistency.

Enjoy your day and feel free to email me if you wish!
Hugs!

As one who once lost about 50lbs and then gained back 30 of it because I quit smoking,I am one of those who has tried and failed and am trying again. I started this past Monday on a combination of Hoodia,Slimfast, and rice cakes. Plus multiple vitamins. It is no joke to want to be healthy. After having gone from size 18 jeans to size 8 and now back up to 14s,I am determined to get back to 8s again. Without smoking. We can do this! You are beautiful in every way and don't need to be skinny....just a healthy weight. And we need to enlist the help of mdgcats who is an RN and a success story!

The ultimate goal is to eat less (fattening) foods and get more exercise. The practical tips I would offer are:

1. join Weight Watchers or a similar program
2. read Dr. Phil's book on losing weight

In a nutshell, the goal is not weight loss; it is better health. So by eating better and exercising more you will achieve the ultimate goal of better health and, as a sideline, lose weight.

I am struggling with losing about 25 to 30 lbs myself so I feel your pain. I am available if you need me.

I think you should consult a dietician or a doctor. They can give you tips and suggest an appropriate kind of exercise, after you've done the tests required.
Good Luck!
