It may qualify as a cult classic but otherwise it is horrible. It is extremely primitive in terms of quality, plot, acting, special effects, etc., and it appears very low budget. The death scenes are ridiculously fake.

It is a good movie. As for quality, you have to remember it was made in 1972, but Wes Craven is a horror genius.
For the time, it was a scary movie. I saw it about 10 years after it came out and it scared me. But I was only about 14 then.

i dont know if good is the right word for it, but if you're a horror afficianado its worth seeing. in some ways its really silly and unreal, and then in other ways it really scary and freakier than what movies come out today. although they are primitive, the 70s movies always creep me out
