Hi
The song comes from the film M.A.S.H. and is dedicated to the dentist of the unit Nick-name Painless who wishes to die the crew gather round a him and the theme suicide is painless comes on (the seen is based on the last supper and is a very good portray of that painting). I think it could be the Manic Street Preachers? that sang it.

If its gloomy sunday - its probably sung by Billie Holiday but it was covered by Bjork. Its apparently one of the most depressing songs in history.
