Selling products is not really an option since we did not maintain our infrastructure advantage after WWII. What we can sell them are intellectual properties. We can teach them engineering, manufacturing techniques, management, etc.

Now they are already taking advantage of this by sending people to the US for education. In many cases the Chineese are already well along this road. In addition, we are competing with other countries who also have advanced technologies and practices.

We can aslo sell them raw materials. Wood, grain, steel, etc. However, the profit margins are small to the originator (farmer, miner, lumberjack) but may be significant for the company.

We did a great business selling beef to Japan until Japan started using their trade surplus to buy huge ranches in the West. Now it's a Japaneese company raising beef in the US and the US industry is rapidly losing the market.

We could sell them freedom, that's certainly something their country needs more of.

Or how about the United States?

China has financed a huge portion of our national debt. They could call those loans due at any time, and it would cause an economic meltdown.

It's quite scary, actually.

You can offer to them products that relate to their beliefs such as Feng Shui related items.
You may also offer culturally customized services like a tailor shop for their silks or a restaurant that features their delicacies.
Those were just simple suggestions that I could think of.

How about a peacekeeping role in Afghanistan or Iraq.

The PLA would have the time of it's life over there.
