America wasn't founded - it was produced by the breakup of the original giant landmass, often referred to as Gaea. These continents were apparently first visited in prehistory by the peoples who became known as Native Americans eventually, by the other people, who did not begin reaching these continents until well into the era referred to as AD (Anno Domini), first apparently by the Vikings, then followed by the explorer Christopher Columbus, searching for a route to the East Indies (of course they weren't referred to as that yet) on behalf of the rulers of Spain.

America was founded by the founding fathers by the creation of the United States Constitution and thus it could be said that America was founded in 1789 when the new govt under the USC replaced the old govt under the Articles of Confederation.

The first settlement to be established in North America was Jamestown. The settlers had a charter to look for gold.

The name originally given to North America was La Morica, after a fabled land of plenty thought to lay to the West. A European monk, writing up the dispatches comming from the new land, mis read the name and assumed that Collumbus had named the new world after one of his closes rivals A spanish explorer named America.

However, it all depends upon when you view the America being founded. It could be that you view the foundation as when the American became independant of colonial rule...

it think its is founded by christopher columbus....an italian..... in the 15th century.......sailing by ship,he founded out that america,which is inhabited by mayans(or indians) has the potential of a new community........america is then named after amerigo vespucci....a fellow traveler of columbus
