Why are guys scared of commitment?
that's a great question Rae. It's hard to believe no one ever asked it before!
Why are people so scared of public speaking? It's the same fear of rejection.
The "flight response" is instinctive!
Girls scared me out of my mind when I was a teen ager. My dates were disasters, in high school and college; because I was afraid I was in over my head.
I could blame it on my parents, who argued all the time, terring each other down with very personal attacks, that convinced me they were going to divorce.
I put myself under incredible pressure to avoid failure in coupling! Right in the middle of a date, I'd suddenly remember "I can't do this!" and wish I wasn't even there.
Bolder womanizers are up for the conquest, but bail on the responsibility of commitment.
Thats why they're afraid to ADMIT they love you!!! They know love demands some sacrifice!!!
Immature guys want to get, not give. Females know the secret of gaining by giving, hich is why they're often quicker to serve God.
You get a lot of satisfaction from giving to your loved one(s), but you only learn that by daring to give!
You ladies might run too, if you realized what you were in for!!!
The truth is that men want some milk, but they don't want to buy the whole cow.
Comitment is scary. Men know we are limited, as you "better halves" do too... but with God's ever-present help men really can meet the awesome challenge of a commitment.
If you want a man who will stand by you faithfully, look for a man of faith.
A real marriage...a man+woman marriage...is a blessing to BOTH and also to God who commanded "Go forth and multiply"
Too many men only aspire to be "sperm donors", not a real FATHER.
Marriages are not just between a sperm donor and a baby machine...it is a union of hearts, including a man, a woman, and GOD Himself!!!

Rae, not ALL guys are afraid of commitment, just some of them are. There are many reasons for that fear. They may have come from broken homes where the commitment tust was easily broken and they have no god role models to guide them. Others may have been hurt by the opposite sex and find it hard to trust the other sex. Others may just be too immature to be ready to make such a commitment yet. I, myself, have been through ALL of these at some point in my life. At this point however, I AM ready to make a lifeling commitment to a kind and loving woman who is, herself, ready to make that very same level of commitment. A loving relationship doesn't just happen al by itself. Relationships take a lot of effort and work to overcome the personality diferences that will always exists between two people. BOTH have to be willing to make concessions to the other in order to make the union of both partners reallly work out. And a lot of folks are too set in their ways to make such concessions which can result in a lack of total commitment as well.
Hope this helps a little bit to understand these things, sweet lady. (((((Rae)))))

I am scared of commitment because ENDING marriages is a multi-billion dollar annual business. Flip through your phone book's enormous attorney section, and over 2/3 of them will gladly take divorce cases.
I oppose gay marriage. In fact, I oppose ALL marriage legally. If you want to be wed with someone, hetero or homo, do it. Keep the government and lawyers out of it, and let's take marriage legislation out of the law codes.

I think people just say that, its like "all guys want is sex and they are all scared of commitment" ect ect, its just stereotyping as usual.
Not all guys want just sex or are scared of commitment...just like not all girls want love, a lot of them like to just to have sex and leave and then also not all want to commit....its really a personal choice rather then whats in your pants.
People stereotype too much and then it gives u the wrong impression of the whole "group" of those kinds of people.
Every person is different wether they are a guy, girl, gay, straight, black, asian, white...whatever....everything we do is personal choice...its not gender based....

I'm not scared of a relationship with a woman... I just am not attracted to them. I'd rather have a relationship with someone I'm attracted to. Wouldn't you?

You are given a choice of categories before you post a question. Yahoo doesn't mysteriously "plunk" a question anywhere without asking you first.
Try "singles and dating" next time. Thanks!
