It must have been hard to live life knowing your the greatest batsman of all time and the adulation and responsibility would have been unbearable. It made it hard for his son who lived under the constant watch of the general public because his exploits and is the reason why he changed his name. It must have been hard on him as well to know the pressure his son was under. Much like Sir Edmund Hillary's son a very talented mountain climber but will forever be living under his shadow.
What makes him a hero, modesty, humility a great Father and a wonderful person. Oh yeah and like I said the greatest batsman of all time.

Sir Donald George Bradman is universally acknowledged as the greatest batsman of all time. He is one of Australia's most popular sporting heroes, and one of the most respected past players in other cricketing nations. His career Test batting average of 99.94 is by some measures the greatest statistical performance in any major sport
The story of the self-taught Bradman practicing alone using a cricket stump and a golf ball, is part of Australian folklore. Bradman’s meteoric rise from bush cricket to the Australian Test team took just over two years. Before his 22nd birthday, he set myriad records for high scoring (many of which survive today) and became Australia’s sporting idol at the height of the Great Depression. Special tactics (known as Bodyline) were devised by the England team to curb his brilliance.

I had read that that English captain Jardine alone succeded in containing him and win the series, when Bradman could score only a few centuries,no double or triple.Poor by his standards for an average of 56.It was called bodyline series Jardine started attacking the body rather than the stumps with the bouncers.
He has scored more than 300 runs in a single day against England. Is it not heroic.

Sir Donald Bradman was a gem of a cricketer. I don't know whether he struggled with his life or not but he had wonderful cricketing career. His average of 99.94 in Test matches is still the highest average in Test cricket by a batsman.

he is the best batsman ever and a hero because of this, brian lara is also one of the best players ever-
Lara - Bradman
Matches - 131 - 52
Runs scored- 11953 - 6996
Batting average- 52.88 - 99.94
100s/50s - 34/48 - 29/13
Top score - 400* - 334*
bradman played far less test matches than lara because of the war years, but still scored only 6 less 100's in 79 less matches. and half the runs. the averages are different classes. unfornately bradman only needed 4 runs in his last match to average 100 but was out for 1.

Other contributors have answered your question marvelously. Just wanted to mention to Karikalan that Jardine was the captain in that series. The demon bowler was Harold Larwood.
