For the 50 years that I have been married, I have always decorated my porch.

I always considered my porch as an extension of our home. Like an extra place for the family to gather.

It has just been the last 20 years that people have really started to beautify their front porch with vines, twinkle lights, birdhouses, carpet and outdoor furniture.

Neighbors walk by and ask if they can join us on our comfortable porch.

It's the one thing that comes to mind as far as doing what has now became very popular in all the home magazines.

Thanks for the question.

I was into Rent after the whole original Renthead craze for the Stage musical but before the movie became popular. I kinda got into the music from the movie before it came out, but ended up liking the OBCR more. Now all the people I kno that call themselves Rent fans don't know half the songs that I do.

- Black nail polish in middle school, two years before it was "in."
- Lip gloss with sparkle in it. I also wore this in middle school, and some bitchy girl came up to me and said, "Your lipstick is HIDEOUS." She was wearing it in high school.
- The Care Bears. I liked them as a child and actually watched the cartoon, unlike the posers who buy the sweatshirts from Hot Topic.
- Planetary conservation (in general, "being green"). I was into recycling, animals, and just taking care of the Earth as a child. I don't know why everyone's treating the Green movement like it's some kind of new, revolutionary idea when we should have been doing it all along.
- The now-extinct Yangtze River dolphins. I read about them in a ZooNews magazine as a child, and I've always remembered and been concerned about them. The article (maybe fifteen years ago) said that they were extremely endangered. Last night, I read that they were extinct. I cried.
