I would change it every 2 hours if you have a heavy flow.

You can use your tampon the normal amount of time that you would use it on dry land. No matter where you are, you can use it the same amount. The tricky part is knowing when you need to change your tampon. If you have a heavy flow you should check every 3 hours or so to make sure you aren't leaking. After your flow is lighter you should still check, but you can leave your tampon in up to about 6 hours. You shouldn't leave it in any longer than that, you could get sick.

also, if it is your first time using a tampon try to use one that is slim or regular with plastic applicator because they are smaller and easier to use. if you are still having trouble put some vaseline on the outside of the applicator, it will help. if you use a regular or slim, and you have a heavy flow, you might have to check for leaking more often because it won't be as big as other tampons.

:] i hope this helps

You need to change your tampon no less than every four hours. Look up toxic shock syndrome online. That's probably why your mom doesn't want you to wear them. Teens are very succeptable to the disease and are much more likely to get it if they don't change their tampons frequently. If you have someone buy you a box of tampons they come with directions (very humerous) and they tell you all about TSS. It's a very scary sickness.

it will last 8 hours as long as you have the right absorbancy for your flow. ex: if you have a heavy flow you probably shouldn't be using the regular sized tampon. being in the water doesn't effect how long a tampon will "work". hope this helps!

Try them before you go on an outing. It will give you an idea of how often you need to change it before you are out and about in public.
