I went down the place. As you said, "Manaog". I went down, saw the place, and left. See one church, you've seen them all.
I am a Christian and a Filipino, but I've stayed in a place not a kilometer away from Makkah. Have you seen, even on TV, the number of those going in pilgrimage there?
Christians are not allowed in the place, but since we are a licensed contractor, and our camp is not inside the restricted area, we were near the site during Haj. We went to Jeddah for shopping, and when we came back, the checkpoint would not allow us in.
They extend the restricted area during Haj.
We could not return to camp. But a Saudi chap, who was a colonel in their Air Force needed a lift. We went again to the checkpoint, with the colonel in tow, and when they saw his ID, we were through!

Yes...I think it was in May 2001 (the last time)...Pangasinan is the home province of my mom's family. And yes, attending the Pista'y Dayat is a wonderful experience. The image of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is said to be miraculous and so devotees from all over really flock to Manaoag during this festive occasion.

Haven't been there - but I've been near there.
And I don't like mob scenes...
I'm religious, and a Muslim, but I just don't get all excited about pilgramages to places.
