Because losing five points is nothing compared to the satisfaction of getting decent, well-thought-of answers to a question that is really plaguing your mind. It is also quite nice to know that you somehow made people think. Besides, it's fun to ask questions and see how people appreciate your question enough to actually drop by and answer. :D

My only question is why do people ask questions anyway? There is really no answer does anyone really know the infinite truth? Ive come to realize that asking a question usually just ends up presenting more questions. I know no answers so therefore I ask no questions. Now I do enjoy sharing experiences and different choices I have been faced with and what reaction the action got. I don't know anything therefore I am surly not one to give answers or teach lessons, but the ability to see things from different angles, understanding all choices have consequence, good or bad depends, I have learned if only one thing in life and that is you cannot control things or people, you can however and only you have the ability to control your reaction.

People do not mind losing points if they can get good answers to their questions or help clarify what they need to know.
But then again, there are some who are just asking for the sake of asking and not bothered about the points.

People don't care of losing points ... if they find the right answer.
Some answers maybe out of context, some were weird, some will test your patience.... but most give the correct ones.
Now, with this question of yours, you lose some points... but you get our answers. Right?

See above, the answer of Bini's Buddy? She is not, mind you, holding her peace. She is holding her piece. So, beware. She may just hold the piece up, I suspect a .39 Magnum. Bini's Buddy - please don't get mad at me. Just couldn't resist.
And to the asker, I thank you. The question not only gave me points. I had fun. And this, I think, is one of the reasons there is Y/A. To give us fun.

happy to fill up ones life! what does the points give? prestege? i don't think so. we have no real identity here except the words that we give. we can do anything we want. just find where the loopholes are in the guidelines. but most of us stand by our own words.

i believe this is not a game of who gets the most points so they don't care... what good are the points here anyway? why would you want to keep it. i'd rather loose it all but get sensible information on whatever i would want to know

Perhaps to get knowledge or people's opinions. It's not all about the points.

I understand what you're asking and I'm almost tempted to enumerate the reasons. But it's really their business and I respect that so I'll just hold my piece.
