I cleaned the ICV with WD40 and carb clean throughly,a black deposit was inside the valve and cleaned with a paint brush also.After through cleaning i shaked the ICV to get out the crb clean out of it.I can hear a small chaking sound and i observed closely,i can find that the valve was closing and opening smoothly(is it normal?).I refitted the valve and my idle was correct.is it enough for now..or i have to buy a new one?I will watch the mileage now..will get back to you soon

You're pretty meticulous on cleaning the ICV and all. But I agree with the previous answerer, if it's not too expensive, just replace it the next time this item gives you any problems.

But now, since you've cleaned it out, and it seems to be running fine, you may be okay for now...

I'm actually planning to check my ICV on my 318ti soon too... having some idling problems of my own (see my questions).

You seem to have done all the work correctly. However, you should do that almost all BMW (older versions) at times encounter problems with the ICV, mostly because of malfunctions in the ICV. You said it's correct now, but if you still keep hearing the chalking noise, i'd suggest you to replace the ICV, it shouldn't cost you much. I mean, why bother with the old one, cleaning it up, maintaining it, when you can just replace it with a new one ?

Again, that's all me... i hate hearing noises coming outta my car.
