Interesting question. I actually measured the walking speed of about 20 people in a class I was teaching at Pierce College in Woodland hills, CA. I set up two switches in such a manner that one simply had to step on a board to trigger the switch.
I connected the inputs to an Electronic Counter and was really surprised at the results. One little lady really stomped across the twenty foot distance and her speed measured 3 MPH. I really expected the measured walking speed to be about 4 Mph for normal walking, but it was not so.
If a child is walking with an adult, the speed would be the same even though the steps for the child would be more per unit distance. I always kid the shorter waitresses in my favorite restaurant by telling them that they should get more money, because they are walking farther than their counterparts. Hope this helps.
I believe that the average strolling speed for an average person to be just 3 Mph.

The average walking speed of a human is about 3.6 kilometers per hour. This is greatly affected by such things as the person's age, weight, fitness level, slope of the surface which they are walking on, or even how late they are for work!

You may have already seem this or something like it. Hopes it helps with your question. "Calculating average human walking speed means, to see to it, as to how many steps you walk per minute. The motive for walking differs from person to person. Some people go about walking, so as to ensure health fitness. For them, the right walking pace would be 3 miles per hour, which means about 120 steps in a minute.
But if you are walking, to shape up your body, then walking 120 steps won't be adequate. You need to increase it to 135 steps per minute or to put it in other words; there is a need to walk 4 miles per hour to ensure good results in weight loss program. The target walking speed for aerobic fitness is about 150 steps per minute. So, depending on your goal, work on your walking speed to achieve the desired results."
OR
1.3 meters per second is Human walking speed or a/k/a 4.2650919 feet per second. This is obviously for an average adult

approx. 3 mph depending on height and weight factors.
At the seniors club, 184 physically strong, alert people over 60 took part in walking-speed timings. The seniors were timed while walking first at normal speed and then at their fast speed a distance of 13 meters (42.7 feet) down a straight, well-lit hallway
it depends who you are, your weight height etc

Make pancakes even healthier by adding mashed baked sweet potato, several pureed spinach and blueberries, or even cooked quinoa.

I average 4 miles per hour on flat surfaces. Since many us citizens tend to be pretty fat after 30, I would guess they average 2 or 1.5 miles per hour.

It depends on the size of the kids.
Impossible to give an exact value. If we assume 4.2 km/hour (which) seems posssible)
the speeed by second is 4200/3600=1.167m/s
