I have checked the thermostat and it is fine. But it seems water isn't flowing through it. Any ideas what it might be? a clog? Pump not working? whatever you think it may be would there b e any way to test and see before I bought the parts? Thank you so much!

I'm sorry, but a '95 Ford Contour may be on its last legs. You don't say what the mileage is on this vehicle, but my hunch is that it's hovering around the 150,000 mile marker or so. It could be dying because it is all worn out.

At 12 years old, I would suspect a clogged or restricted radiator. When you pull the radiator to have it rodded out or re-cored, take a look at the water-pump, but you would most likely have a stronger indication that the pump is bad such as leaking or noise that is unmistakable.Unless, of course, your belt is missing and your not circulating water at all.
