If it is a leak , the leak will need to be fixed first. Just recharging with freon will do you no good. Any good mechanic will agree with me.

The weakest part in the system are the seals in the compressor. There are rubber seals in the compressor that will wear out and start leaking. The best way to keep this from happening is actually use the A/c more often. Let me explain, make it a habit to operate your air conditioning in the winter months. Just 5 to 10 mins a week. What this does is circulate the freon/oil in the system which helps lubricate those seals in the compressor I mentioned. You want prof that this works ,well I have a 1990 Integra ,the A/C has never been charged and it still blows ice on the hottest day, and my 2000 dodge Ram does the same!!! Get that leak fixed and start using your A/C.

You are low on Freon. When the Freon leaks out the pressure lowers and the compressor is switched off. Then no COLD air comes out! Have AC leakchecked and repair leak then have Freon refilled.

OR, you only have a heater and a VENT, Not an Air-Conditioner!

OR, on some control panels, the AC Compressor is on a small switch with an indicator light and has to be switched on manually...

Over time, the air conditioning coolant seeps out, and eventually the air doesn't blow cold any more.

You have to take the car to the service station and get the Freon or coolant replaced. It will last anywhere from 3 to 5 years after you get it replaced, and then it will start slowly seeping out again, and you will see a noticeable difference in the cooling power.

This should cost anywhere from $150 to $300.

It sounds like you need to have it charged,go to or shop around and find the best deal to charge your a/c. when they charge it all they do is put freon back the system. after you do this your a/c should work fine, with ice cold air!

Sounds like you need you ac system recharged, most likely the R134 freon has leaked out, preventing the system from functioning.
